Haverfordwest has a huge variety of Community Organisations. Sport plays a leading role in the Community with excellent facilities for Rugby Union , football, cricket and tennis. There are many other clubs and societies from pigeons to pool! There is rugby, football and cricket aplenty, plus minority sports that range from triathlon to table tennis, badminton and bowls!

Anyone who likes sport would feel very much at home in Haverfordwest since there is activity aplenty at excellent facilities where newcomers are made welcome.

The rugby club is situated at the top of Merlin's Bridge and the Blues, as they are known, play in Division three of the National League. They have floodlights, two pitches and a superb clubhouse, with youth and junior players receiving excellent coaching and lots of support from ex-players.

Haverfordwest County play at the Bridge Meadow Stadium in the League of Wales and they are also eager to attract good footballers of all ages, with a football academy for youngsters that is linked to the Haverfordwest College. John Daniels is the Youth Development Officer and Mickie Ellis the Director of the Football. Then there are teams at Merlin's Bridge, Camrose, Haverfordwest Cricket Club and others who play in the Pembrokeshire Football League. For those of more mature years the 'Night Owls League', encourages former players and those not quite up to league standard to take part in floodlit Astroturf 'friendlies'.

Cricket
Haverfordwest Cricket Club have three fine pitches at The Racecourse and field four senior teams throughout the Summer, plus junior teams of all ages to under 18 level - with Jonathan Twigg eager to attract players that are well coached by a strong coaching staff that includes the likes of Ronnie Morse and Graham Morris.

Bowls/Tennis
Outdoor bowls is played throughout the summer and there is a great hwyl amongst the members, who are strong team mates and friends - whilst tennis is played nearby at the town's park - and Peter Howells is the man to gain any information from.

In addition, short mat bowls flourishes at Merlin's Bridge and other sites in the county town, with Martyn Davies as keen as they come.

Sport Centre
The sport centre, situated at Sir Thomas Picton School, is a focal point of the sporting fraternity and table tennis, karate, badminton and aerobics go on regularly, whilst keep fit and the new 'Spin' on fixed cycles is growing ever-more popular. Pop in and check what is going on in the town in terms of sport - you'd be amazed at what is on offer!

Athletics is flourishing with Peter Freeman as one of the coaches, whilst the Triathlon Club (for those who like swimming, cycling and running) goes from strength to strength. They also encourage folk to go along and just take part in any disciplines. There is a superb swimming club, which really looks after its youngsters, and the local 18-hole golf course has panoramic views, testing holes and a cordiality that is second to none.

Martial Arts are well catered for with Judo and Karate, Tai Chi and Kick Boxing, the Red Dragon Kick Boxing Club run by former World Champion Graham Brockway, growing ever-more popular and held at the Merlin's Bridge Boxing Club.

Hockey is played on the Astroturf at Sir Thomas Picton whilst the new Dome at Tasker Milward School provides another excellent facility for sports like cricket (nets) and basketball - and there are other facilities and activities too numerous to mention in Haverfordwest - a town that really does encourage an interest in sport from inhabitants and visitors alike.
