In
it’s brief existence the Haverfordwest Town Centre
Partnership has established itself as a voice for
businesses in Haverfordwest. It has introduced information
boards throughout the town, established a Website,
created a Visitors and Shopping Guide and worked
closely with the partner bodies to ensure the economic
prosperity and vibrancy of Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire’s
County Town. There is still much to do particularly
to address the need for accessible, affordable car
parking, it is only with your support the partnership
can continue to work on the town’s behalf.
What is it?
The partnership is a joint venture funded by Haverfordwest
Town Council, and Haverfordwest Chamber of Commerce,
and supported by Pembrokeshire County Council. Business
interests are represented on the Partnership through
their membership of Haverfordwest Chamber of Commerce.
Our aims
- To strengthen Haverfordwest’s role as the
county town
- To promote a comprehensive mix of shops, offices,
leisure and cultural facilities
- To help provide a consistently high quality,
safe and enjoyable experience
- To develop Haverfordwest’s role as a visitor
centre and tourist base for the wider area
- To enhance the visual aspect of the centre of
the county town

The partnership will exist to expand and improve
the attractiveness and economic development of Haverfordwest
Town Centre
Management and promotion
- To actively encourage partnership working
- To encourage quality environmental maintenance
- To promote Haverfordwest through agreed innovative
and co-ordinated marketing
Property investment and business development
- To attract an improved range and quality of
shops, businesses and leisure facilities
- To attract specialist/ niche/ local traders
- To pursue initiatives to occupy vacant premises,
both long and short term
Transport
- To improve access for all users
- To encourage transport facilities such as improved
car parking, bus/coach station and taxis
- To improve signage, lighting and traffic management
Urban
design
- To promote a friendly, attractive environment
throughout the whole Town
- To build on Haverfordwest’s distinctive
character
- To improve the “gateways” to the
Town Centre
- To work to maintain or improve quality buildings
and spaces in the town
Safety and security
- To promote schemes for improved safety and security
- Raise the profile of, and encourage, CCTV schemes
Skills and business development
- To develop higher standards of customer service
Tourism
- To develop the town as a tourist destination
- To link the town as a gateway to the National
Park

How is the Partnership managed?
Currently, there is a board of management with
representatives from the funding bodies, Haverfordwest
Town Council, and Haverfordwest Chamber of Commerce,
as well as representatives from Pembrokeshire County
Council who fully support the project, along with
representatives from others such as the Top of Town
traders. The board decides the direction of the partnership
and ensures that the Town Centre Manager is working
towards the set objectives.
Haverfordwest Chamber of Commerce provides
funding to the Town Centre Partnership for the
benefit of the business interests of Haverfordwest.
