Welcome to the business section ...

The Haverfordwest of today has the feel of a bustling market town with a character that has developed over several hundred years of brisk trade. The steep streets and old houses tell tales of years of commerce gone by, with monuments to old markets contrasting with those that still exist.

Just click on the index on the left to select the information on the business you require or send an on line enquiry or scroll down this page to see some shopping information on our town.

Riverside Market
One of the markets that remain is the Riverside Market, which is open from Monday to Saturday. This indoor market offers great bargains and attractive shopping with its main produce being meats, cheeses, textiles, leather goods, books, a large clock and gift shop, and a pet shop to name a few. The market is impressively built on stilts and overlooks the river Cleddau and it is possible to overlook the water while enjoying lunch or tea and cakes in the market cafe.
Riverside Quay Shops

On the opposite side of the river, across an attractive footbridge, is the Riverside Quay development, a peaceful pedestrianised tree-lined boulevard that offers all the latest high street shops such as Boots, W H Smith, Argos, Giles Sports and more.

The streets around the market and Riverside complex are home to a stunning array of independent shops, including antiques, books and craft outlets all stuffed with essentials and gifts ideas, giving shoppers a flavour of the other produce that Pembrokeshire has to offer.

Farmer's Market
Every fortnight on Fridays a Farmer's Market is held on the riverside complex, offering a wholesome and fresh choice of meats, cheese, vegetables and organic produce together with a whole range of locally made foods

Top Town Traders
At the top of the town sits a group of retailers known as the 'Top Town Traders'. The group pride themselves on traditional values of courtesy and personal attention.

You'll find an array of highly individual shops plus a number of restaurants, cafes and pubs each with its own distinctive menu.

Supermarkets
The town has a choice of supermarkets, Tesco, Safeway, Lidl and Kwiksave and the growth in importance as a retail centre has meant that Haverfordwest is now attracting attention from global companies such as McDonalds who, having run a successful outlet in Haverfordwest for some time are now looking at other locations in Pembrokeshire Department Stores.
The town has its own department store, Ocky White Ltd, which attracts shoppers from the whole county. The store sells everything from men's and ladies fashions, a large perfume and beauty selection, a great range of china and crystal and even runs its own Travel Agency.
Haverfordwest's shopping facilities have met the demands of the local population. Even in the early 1980's it was remarked that the town had a unique family spirit, with many old family businesses dating back to the 19th century. As the population's demands have changed, the retailers have kept pace, but that unique spirit remains.
